Operal, the Swiss Gaming Studio that created ClimateCandy, has launched a new promotional campaign for march 3rd 2023  for the global climate strike organized by Fridays for Future. For every download of the app during the campaign, Operal will retire an additional 50 kg of CO2, on top of the carbon credits already being retired with every level of the game.

ClimateCandy is a mobile game that rewards gamers with impact, allowing them to create positive change even if they don’t have money to spare. With every level, gamers are rewarded with retirements of nature-based solutions carbon credits, which are funded through revenue generated from ads watched within the game.

Although not a direct reduction or avoidance of carbon emissions are generated, ClimateCandy is an important first step in raising awareness about climate change within the gaming community. What’s more, the game enables millions of people in the global south who may not have the means to create impact to do so through the revenue generated from ads.

With over 100,000 downloads in the first month and over 1,000 tons of CO2 retired, ClimateCandy is already making a significant impact. And with this new promotional campaign, Operal hopes to encourage even more people to join the fight against climate change.

By retiring additional carbon credits for every download during the global climate strike, Operal hopes to create buy pressure on the carbon market, making avoidance and reduction of carbon emissions more attractive than compensation. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the fight against climate change, and Operal invites everyone to join the #Play2SaveThePlanet movement with ClimateCandy.
